4 Day Fly Fishing Roadtrip Itinerary for Northern Idaho

Day 1: Start your trip by driving to the St. Joe River. This river is known for its large rainbow and cutthroat trout. You can either wade or float fish on this river. Stop at one of the local fly shops for a guide or information on the best spots to fish.

Day 2: Spend the day exploring the Coeur d'Alene River. This river is also known for its rainbow and cutthroat trout. It's a bit more challenging than the St. Joe River, but the scenery is beautiful. There are also many stretches of the river that are only accessible by foot, so be prepared for a bit of hiking.

Day 3: Head to the Clearwater River for some steelhead fishing. The Clearwater River is a tributary of the Snake River and is known for its steelhead trout. These fish can be caught using either fly fishing or spin fishing methods. Be sure to check the regulations before fishing, as the seasons and limits for steelhead can be different than for other types of trout.

Day 4: Spend your final day on the Salmon River. This river is known for its large Chinook and sockeye salmon, but it also has a great population of steelhead trout. The best time to fish for steelhead on the Salmon River is typically in the fall, but it's worth checking with local guides or fly shops for the most current information.

Please keep in mind that this is just a suggestion and you should always check the regulations and the current conditions of the rivers before planning your trip.
